Twinkle Tray Review
There are many tools available to help Windows users handle multiple monitors but Twinkle Tray stands out from the crowd thanks to its modern, stylish and efficient design. It's an Electron-based program that adds a small icon to the system tray from where it provides instant access to all compatible monitors' brightness levels via easy-to-operate sliders. The application establishes communication with the monitors using DDC/CI and WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation).
Although it's designed with multiple displays in mind, this free software also works fine on single-monitor systems. With Twinkle Tray, you can normalize the brightness level of all your external monitors from a single place and even turn off all screens when you're away from your computer. Moreover, the program allows you to bind hotkeys or shortcuts and turn on 'Idle detection' that reduces display brightness after a set period of time.
One of the most interesting features offered by Twinkle Tray is that, unlike other similar programs such as Monitorian, it does not come with any in-app purchases and ads. In addition, the program has a decent range of configuration options, including the ability to launch it at startup and change the brightness update rate (500ms by default).
This is a pretty straightforward yet very useful tool to have around if you use a lot of external screens for work or just want to reduce eye strain when working on your laptop at night. What's more, the fact that it is simple to install and looks right at home on your Windows installation makes it all the more appealing.
